“Love You” Youth Life Planning Project is organized by the “Jockey Club Applause. Create Your Journey Project” Life Planning Service Team (New Territories East), Hong Kong Youth Services Office, in collaboration with community stakeholders – Hong Kong Institute of Pets and Life Concepts Group With the theme of “pets”, the cooperation has established a comprehensive set of career planning package interventions, covering four stages of “inspirational participation”, “self-knowledge”, “exploring multiple ways out” and “life planning and management”.

Through the teaching and sharing sessions of contact with pets and mentors, the activity project enables young people to recognize and understand the behavior of animals. At the same time, young people will serve as volunteers on the dog farm to get in touch with and understand the needs of animals and enhance their sensitivity to the people and things around them. By making good use of the opportunities of tutors’ classroom and volunteer services, young people can learn the basic skills needed to live with and care for animals. The activity also provided young people with a lot of information about the “pet” industry. With the support and intervention of the life planning service team in the process, young people could better understand the concept of multi-vocational development and the concept of extended work (Expanded Notion of Work, ENOW), and explore boldly. Turning “interest” into “work” has unlimited possibilities.

Taking care of pets has always been regarded as a leisure and hobby activity, which aims to increase the joy of life and relieve the pressure of work. In fact, the process of caring for a “pet” can help develop an individual’s personality traits and skills. For example, caring for pets on the one hand emphasizes the caregiver’s sense of responsibility, patience, and carefulness and other personality traits. Therefore, the staff of the Life Planning Service Team firmly believe that caring for pets can bring valuable self-growth and learning to young people. The work of pet care is gradually being valued by the society, and the scope has extended to many related industries, which shows that interest can also be transformed into career development. Young people also have the possibility of developing multiple ways.
